Born to Shine is a registered charity (no. 1187913) that believes in using a range of activities to help reduce social isolation.
Our team is dedicated to inclusion, and we continue to develop resources that support people and their families.
Our Goals
Our goals are to engage and empower people by improving well-being, self-esteem & confidence in those that are socially isolated for a range of different reasons (eg. health, finance, age, gender, etc).
We can achieve this by…
Organising recreational activities
Increasing the number and availability of inclusive clubs
Decreasing social isolation
Providing lectures and training on inclusion
Reducing negative perceptions of disability, mental health and disengaged youth

Why Buckton Fields Community Centre is the Right Home for Born to Shine
Born to Shine is dedicated to reducing social isolation and empowering people through inclusion. Our charity works with individuals and families from all backgrounds, using recreational activities, inclusive clubs, training, and community engagement to improve wellbeing, confidence, self-esteem, and opportunities for connection.
Taking on the lease of Buckton Fields Community Centre felt like a natural fit because the centre provides an ideal space to bring our charitable objectives to life. At the heart of everything we do is creating opportunities for people to come together, build relationships, develop skills, and feel part of their community. A community centre offers exactly that: a welcoming, accessible hub where people of all ages and abilities can participate in activities and connect with others.
Buckton Fields is a growing and diverse community, and we recognised an opportunity to create a vibrant centre that reflects the needs of local residents. Through dance, arts and crafts, family activities, wellbeing sessions, inclusive clubs, youth opportunities, and community events, we can provide a wide range of activities that help reduce loneliness, promote inclusion, and improve quality of life.
The centre also allows us to expand our mission of increasing the availability of inclusive opportunities. By providing accessible and affordable activities, we can ensure that barriers such as disability, age, financial circumstances, health conditions, or social isolation do not prevent people from being active members of their community.
As an organisation, we believe that strong communities are built on connection, understanding, and belonging. Managing Buckton Fields Community Centre enables us to create a safe and welcoming environment where everyone is valued, supported, and encouraged to shine.
